Three Gorges has Generated 800 Billion kWh Capacity

China Three Gorges Corporation released news on 5th and announced that the world's largest hydropower station - the Three Gorges Power Station - has achieved continuous safe production for over 3000 days and has cumulatively generated over 800 billion kWh electricity. This is an important milestone of the operating management history of the Three Gorges Power Plant, which marks a new record of safety production and a higher level of management for the station.

Statistics show that the Three Gorges Power Station has achieved continuous safe production up to 3003 days by 5th, with 800.2 billion kWh of accumulated power generation capacity. The Generating capacity is equivalent to 15% of total electricity consumption within the whole nation in 2013. The Three Gorges Power Station has saved 400 million tons of raw coal consumption, and reduced 800 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and more than 800 million tons of sulfur dioxide emissions since its running 11 years ago.

The continued safe and efficient operation of the Three Gorges Power Station not only injects strong force to the rapid development of China's economy but also makes great contributions to promoting low-carbon and green development. Three Gorges Group said it would continue strengthening the operation and management, trying to make the Three Gorges Power Station a safe, resource-saving, environment-friendly, intelligent and world-class hydroelectric power plant.

The Three Gorges Hydropower Station is equipped with the world’s largest installed capacity. It has large unit size and capacity, as well as wide range of water head. The difficulty of designing and manufacturing ranks the highest level in the world.
